Recently the Government of Canada announced new codes for regulated financial institutions (Banks). The purpose of this code is to provide information upon request as well as on an annual basis that will assist Canadians in understanding their current mortgages as it relates to pre-payment privileges and more importantly penalties to break existing mortgages.
